Fiber Cement Siding that Looks Like Ceda
I’m looking for a fiber cement based siding that looks like cedar. I tried James Hartie but their stuff needs to be painted to look like cedar. I want the color in the product so that I don’t have to paint.

If this is a serious question and you don't want to paint, consider aluminum or vinyl siding.
Aluminum is good for trailers and vinyl is good for DWV piping. Fibercement (and cedar, for that matter) siding comes prefinished in just about any color you can find.
Certainteed makes a product I don't know if the color is inlaid . But I just recently saw another company that has a thru-color product. I will look for it . But, I think it is John Hardie.
Bob,
Go to http://www.certainteed.com and click on fibercement products. They will have all the information that you could ever ask for. Both certainteed and james hardie have pre-finished products available. The catch is you have to buy in "QUANTITY" to get it.
Forgetaboutit! I just sided my house with Cemplank, a cement fiber product, and I can tell you that at this time there are limits on what you will find as to color and pattern.
I, like you, wanted specific features built-in, however, after agonizing and leaving my home exposed to the elements for over a year, I decided that just the fact that it did not rot and would last a lifetime would be enough. I own rental properties and am tired of residing. I still have to paint, but I will not have to replace siding ever again.
It's not that the manufacturer can't make the cedar pattern and color, it's just that there are not enough customers who desire the same features, so it becomes a matter of economics for them. At least for now.
Get out your paint brush, bubba.
I agree , plus fire protection at a discount . Im using it also on my new rental properties. I figgure I can get a paint job to last 10 to 15 yrs depending on the quality of the paint. Even then, Im not expecting any peeling . Just be sure to get the primed cement board. This product will be the future , plus its green building.
I really cant say enough,
