Hi-
Homeowner who is somewhat new to the HVAC realm of things…planning an installation where the manufacturer (Unico) is a big proponent of fiberglass ductboard for ease of installation with their system. The ductwork they show is foil-faced on the outside, and exposed fiberglass on the inside. You buy it in sections from them, elbows, fittings, etc.
My question is how good is the fiberglass ductwork? Do the fibers come loose over time or at startup of a system for the first time each season? How does the glass stay in tact? Can ductwork like this be cleaned in 5-10 years like conventional sheet metal? Is it a health concern in 20 years???
Thanks- any info or tips appreciated
