I need some help. I have been putting up some roof trusses. And I have them all finished. And the sheathing is on the roof and walls. I talked to my local building department and that said. That the roof sheathing is enough bracing. For the trusses. But I would like to put more bracing. A lot more. How can I find the angle from my gable wall to my first inboard truss. I know in a perfect world, put a 2x up there longer then what I need. Position it, and mark it and cut it off. But as I said my sheathing is in the way. I tried a bevel won’t work. How can I calculate the angle. Thanks Hat

plumb a 2by short and mark angle off the truss
You could hole a scrap of lumber up at the approximate angle you think you need, and draw a rough line for the cut. Then transfer that to the board you intend to cut. The cuts don't have to be perfect.
If you're trying to brace the gable end, I think you're on the right track. They need some reinforcement, and it helps keep the studs straight.
If you're trying to beace other things, you might be wasting your time. But it's kinda hard to tell without seeing the structure.
