During a recent home remodel project, the home owners requested that the existing brick fireplace be covered with a smooth concrete finish. They want a burnished modern look to match the contemporary remodel. We applied a portland cement scratch coat and floated it to a even surface. Now we are faced with the finish coat and need some help. Does anyone have any experience achieving that smooth burnished surface with that deep gray concrete color? We didn’t want to use plaster for wear issues. Thanks.
