I need to install 2″ ridgid insulation and 1/2″ drywall between 4×6 beams. I am thinking of making some “L” members out of 1×3’s and fitting the insualtion between them. This would give me a 3/4″ air gap and an edge to screw the drywall to. The ceiling is a cathedral type ( 6/12) The owners insist on leaving atleast some of the beams exposed.
Does anyone have a better way of doing this? I plan on a friction fit between the “L’s” for the insulation until I can get the drywall screwed in over it. Is 3/4″ enough of an edge to properly secure drywall to? I can add liquid nail if required.
Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.
