The nearest town to me has grown to the point that it has decided to put in sidewalks on several of its main streets. A long stretch by our library was poured today and it looks great: Nice brushed finish with wide edging and joints – but I know from experience that within a year you won’t be able to see any of it.
With the exception of a power trowelled polished finish, all concrete seems to quickly assume its natural state of looking like very poorly done exposed aggregate.
I like pouring slabs, do a pretty nice broom finish and am pretty fussy about edging, but what’s the point? Is there any realistic way to keep concrete looking good apart from frequent sealing – which in most cases isn’t realistic.

the different is the brush, use a house brush or shop brush, it be gone in six month. You need a concrete brush
I use a concrete brush and so do the crews doing the town's sidewalks.
I love using concrete, I just don't have a lot of faith in its ability to keep its finish on exterior slabs.
