Hey there,
Laying a doug fir t&g deck today under a porch roof. Deck is sloped (away from the house-bonus!) and on the north side of house.
Any suggestions on finishing. Obviously we want to preserve the beauty of the grain/color and as it will get reduced UV’s – should we go with a tinted product?
Have gotten recommendations of tung oil but then read an article that discouraged the use of any natural based products (tung oil, linseed, etc) as it is a tasty treat for mildews and fungi.
Also, do you recommend use an oxygen bleach even though it is new wood to open grains?
Thanks for your thoughts!
Julia

I'm running my son to soccer practice so no time ( will later ) but you should paint / stain your material before install!

Cabot or Penofin. Precoating is very worthwhile
