My fire sprinkler sub wants $25 per head to up-grade from “recessed, but visible” to the “recessed with a flat cover” type. Looking at the heads, this seems excessive as it doesn’t appear that either unit would have a cost of $25.
Thanks for any info,
GT

25 bucks a head to shut down the whole system, purchase the new heads, change the heads, refill and test the system and pull a permit? Doesn't sound all so bad. Try a second estimate from the next guy.

*Let me clarify. This is a proposed installation. The owners would prefer the inconspicuous heads that only show a flat, metal cover. He wants $25 ea to upgrade the installation of 22 heads from the visible "nozzel" to the flush, flat type.GT
*GTFirst thing that comes to mind is that he already has the recessed but visible heads on hand from a previous job (already paid for by another customer? fell off the back of a truck? ). He may have to go out and purchase new recessed & covered heads. Is this the only fire sprinkler bid you got? If so, get another bid, if not, what does the other sub want for the CWO? Normally, I will ask subs for alternates on their original bids (ie. heads below ceiling, recessed but visible, recessed with flat covers. Then I have an idea when the customer asks "What if?"Vince
