I have a full cape style house that has a chimmeny on each end. Unfortunetly, the hearths are in the basement. One hearth has as small opening and the oil boiler’s exaust is tied in to it, the other has a huge behive hearth about 4’x6′. Any ideas on what to do with this setup?
The chimmeny on the huge behive side goes up the in the middle of the walls between the rooms on the first and second floors with corners exposed in all the rooms. The chimmeny on the other side is fully exposed along the wall of the main bedroom. I’d like to have a fireplace in that bedroom, can a I get a mason to break into the chimmeny there and build a fireplace?
