Fitting a ceiling panel to a curved wall.
Hi all,
I’m installing a tin ceiling in a residence that has curved walls, are there any tricks for fitting the ceiling panels
to the curves. I’m sure it would be the same if the material I was installing was drywall, but I just can’t figure out
a good method for this.
Thanks in advance.

Curves
We use a flex rule to cut ceiling tile around columns. Or, you can scribe a large piece of cardboard to match the curve and use it as a template to mark the tile. The trick with a solid template is to layout grid lines on it that match your ceiling runs, so you know which part of the arc to use.
Yeah, use some sort of a template. For reasonably shallow curves you can use the dividers/scribing trick -- fasten brown wrapping paper to the ceiling, then make your "dividers" by, eg, fastening a short rod to one end of a yardstick and a felt pen to the other end. Hold the "dividers" at a constant angle (eg, square to the edge of the paper) and trace along the edge of the wall.
If the curve is more complex or deeper, paste together pieces of the wrapping paper to come within a few inches of the wall for its entire length. Then you can use a regular school compass to do the "scribing".
