I have a Masonite siding product believed to be called COLOR LOCK on my Arizona home. It is installed in large sheets.
It has a wood grain pattern embossed on it which I would like to rejuvenate.
It has developed large faded sections which are more absorbent than the un-faded area.
Anyone have experience with this?
It seems to me that a transparent stain will accentuate the difference between the faded and the rest.
I am trying to save the wood grain look and not have a surface that needs re-doing every few years.
Is that possible?

Boise Cascade/Siding Division made a similar product in the early 70's. It is on my house.............not only did it not perform as expected, it required painting after 8 years or so and all bottom edges began to swell and exfoliate.
My inquiry to the company was nonproductive since B/C had "closed" the siding division after class action suits. I was too late to participate in the settlement, so I painted and repaired every two-three years until the rot was too bad.
At that point I cut out the bad and replaced with ply, felt papered the whole house and resided with Rollex woodgrain vertical aluminum siding. Should have done it as soon as I found the problem...would have saved lots of lost hours of painting and repair.
Your situation is similar.......use high quality exterior paint, watch for bad deterioration, and maintain a regular cycle of inspection and repair.
You might check out the problem with Masonite Corp., but their litagation experiences may be your roadblocks to any corporate help!?
