Used a snap cutter to cut off an old bathroom waste stack.
Cutter worked great but I may have used a bit too much pressure and loosed the old Lead/Oakum coupling. The pipe can now be moved site to side but you can’t lift it out.
I figure my opitons are:
1. Re-set new lead/oakump
2. Pull old piple completely out and use some type of PVC/Copuling connection (if there is such a thing).
Any input would be great.
Thanks,
JNF

Did ya try just re-packing the lead with a blunt punch and a hammer?
Yeah, if it's not too loose, and the existing packing doesn't appear to be damaged, just tighten it with that blunt punch and hammer. A blunt 1/2" or so cold chisel worked in an X pattern around the joint will do it -- a little at a time, two or three times around.
Of course you can also pull the pipe out and use a rubber ring to reset it or a piece of PVC. And there are pourable compounds that can be used in place of the lead.
re-pack it. Like the others said. Lead is a great material. To bad it isn't good for peoples health. Wash your hands afterwards.
