I’m in the process of remodelling my greatroom. It has a tongue in groove pine ceiling that is cathedral, a balcony overlooking the room with oak spindles, drywalled walls. My wife and I disagree on what color the light fixtures and outlets should be. I chose white, as the baseboard registers are white as well as the front door and ceiling fans. My lights will be track type with single point mounts (no visble tracks). She says the white looks too “institutional”, that it would be better for kitchens. The white does contrast with the pine ceiling, but I dont think it looks bad. Any rule of thumb for a warm looking great room like this? Any place I can go to look at photos of different rooms for reference?
Thanks,
Tom

Always listen to your wife. She knows best.
I think this is best posted in House Chat - but since you are here:
Outlets are in whatever color the manufacturers make that is closest to your wall color. face plates can be painted to match wall color. The idea is for them to not be appearant.
As for the fixture colors: Track lighting might be best if it is the same color as the ceiling. I wrote COLOR not MATERIAL. As close to that as you can get unless they are intended to be seen and part of the room design. Then choose a finish which is dictated by the design.
Ceiling fans - well, most of them arel ugly and none are inconspicuois. Pick one which you will like seeing everyday.
