I have built a room addition that has a 9″ foundation wall with a triple plate and 2×10 floor joist. My exterior finish for this room will be lap siding. I have a problem in that my 1 x10 band board will come up 3″ shy of covering my foundation wall if I line it up with the rest of the house My solution to this was to cover the 3″ of exposed plates and visible foundation wall with a stucco veneer. On one side of this room, there will be a patio made with pavers that will be above the foundation wall. Does anyone have a suggestion as to how I could flash or waterproof this area and continue with a stucco veneer or am I creating a problem down the road. The patio will have positive drainage away from the house.
