I've used the vinyl solution for flashing ledgers, also copper. I'm not sure ACQ is compatible with much else without some sort of isolation barrier.

I use the vinyl Z flashing.
Matt
Size and source or manufacturer?[email protected]
I am not sure on a manufacturers name.
I am almost positive thats it's 3-4" up the wall, 1-1/2" over the ledger, and 3/8" on the face of the ledger.
I use a vinyl siding nail slot puch to give the vinyl some room for movement.
Matt
Sounds like something you could pick up at any roofing/siding jobber?[email protected]
Yes sir, I get it from my lumberyard.
A siding supplier might have it also.
Matt
Thanks alot![email protected]
HD used to carry the vinyl preformed ledger flashing. Not saure if they still do.

I recently worked on a house where the home owner built the decks. They were flashed with a flexible vinyl/plastic sheet good about a foot wide...he said he got it from his lumberyard, and they said it what everybody used...don't know the name tho. Someone's got it in for me, they're planting stories in the press
Whoever it is I wish they'd cut it out but when they will I can only guess.
They say I shot a man named Gray and took his wife to Italy,
She inherited a million bucks and when she died it came to me.
I can't help it if I'm lucky.
Eric,
I'm not even sure about the "bendable vinyl", I lean toward using an isolation membrane, either I&W or felt paper, whichever works best for the circumstance. Only time will tell what is really effective, or not.
Geoff
Won't the isolation membrane sag between the joists?[email protected]
Eric,
The membrane is applied to the joist/ledger

My yard now stocks copper Z flashing. Before that, it was the old aluminum with a strip of vycor between the two. Never tried the vinyl.
Stick the Vycor to the bottom of the flashing...............genious![email protected]
I've used the roll vinyl coil stock with good results for deck flashing. It's pretty neat stuff, it just doesn't bend as quite as well as aluminum. In other words, it's hard to get it to stay bent at a 90, but for deck flashing, you just push into place and nail it. I've also used strips of Ice and Water to isolate aluminum coil, and it works good too.
The other way around, stick the vycor to the ledger and run it up the wall, then attach the aluminum like normal. The vycor does all the work and the aluminum protects it from the UV.
