I am preparing to install a floating wood floor system (probably Kahrs) over an existing 40 year old concrete slab on grade. The original floor in this area was done one half parquet and one half slate, both have been removed. The area that was slate needs a little level set prior to the new floor. My dilemma is a slight moisture problem with the slab, although the slab was poured over a poly vapor barrier (I know because we have punched through for plumbing in an adjacent bathroom) there is some moisture in the worst (read July and August)months of the year. It is hard to tell if it is condensate from the air or moisture from the floor, and no I do not have enough time to do a long term test with a sheet of poly taped to the floor. I know to install a sheet of 6 mil poly under the floating floor but I am wondering if anyone might have a suggestion for a good quality method of painting/sealing the slab prior to the poly, I am uncertain what type of product to use. Any help would be appreciated.

Unmarked sheet vinyl has always been the best protection for a laminate wood floor. It is glued down just like patterned vinyl. You can usually buy it at a carpet , vinyl and wood floor supplier in your area. It is about 30 cents a sf.
*You might try http://www.xypex.com
*Thanks for the link, that is a very serious product. It may be a bit of overkill for this project (unless we decide to turn the first floor into an indoor pool) but the info is appreciated. Have you ever used this product? For what? Thanks again, Bill Heyde
