I”m looking at installing a floating floor using an engineered product over a radiant floor with tubing embedded in 1 1/2″ raised concrete slab. I have a couple of questions
First the manufacturer (Hiquera) doesn’t warranty installations over radiant floors – anyone had experience with this?
Second, I’ll need to butt the ends of some planks into a doorway with a transition piece that’s currently glued down – if the floor moves, there’ll be a gap between the floor and the transition piece. I could use a compressible spacer at the end of the room opposite the doorway and rely on it to keep the floor butted tightly to the transition, or perhaps mill a new transition piece that’s installed glued to the flooring, rather than the subfloor. The problem with that is I’d be gluing against the direction of the floor’s expansion.
Replies
If you can tolerate your transition piece being raised slightly above floor level you could mill a new one with a rabbet to accept the edge of the new flooring and enough room for some movement.

Thanks - good idea. Should've thought of that one...
You might want to think more about a voided warranty. I'd probably be looking for an alternative product or supplier.
And you mention "if the floor moves".......
It's not "if".
It's when.
I'd be doing whatever is needed to get the old transition strip out cleanly, and replacing it.
I won't be laughing at the lies when I'm gone,
And I can't question how or when or why when I'm gone;
I can't live proud enough to die when I'm gone,
So I guess I'll have to do it while I'm here. (Phil Ochs)
