I have been considering installing a floating floor in my living room, concrete slab. I was browsing several different websites and came across one that delt with flooring similar to this one. One of the threads stated that they installed the Engineered Flooring over 1/2 inch “pinkboard” to increase insulation of the floor and minimze sound transmission. Does this sound right?? they also put down VB under the board… this seems strange to me but was wondering what you guys thought??

I know that some engineered floors are intended to go over thin, rigid foam insulation, but think more like 1/4" thick. Just allow enough room at edges for expansion/contraction. My friend has gone back twice to an engineered floor he installed in a basement to relieve the perimeter to remove waves from the flooring. A vapor barrier sounds like a good idea to me on a slab especially, to prevent the flooring from absorbing moisture and swelling.
