Floating floor vs. vinyl tile vs. pergo
Kitchen remodel question. We’re weighing the tradeoffs of floating snap-together floor vs. vinyl tile vs. pergo-type nail-down flooring. This is a remodel back to the studs in some places, to the wainscoting in others (baseboard removed). No kids at home, but we have cats, including a couple of barfers. Moderately competent weekend warrior.
Opinions? Virtues of each in the long run?

"pergo-type nail-down flooring."
I don't thing that there has ever been a "pergo-type" ( ie; Laminate flooring) that is nail down.
Are you talking about an egineered WOOD floor. Typcially those can be floated, nailed, or glued down. But not all products can be installed in all of the 3 ways. And it also depends on the specfic application.
And you mentioned vinyl tiles. But why not sheet vinyl?

A-holes. Hey every group has to have one. And I have been elected to be the one. I should make that my tagline.
Ah. My mistake. I thought Pergo was nail-down. I don't think I want to use engineered wood in the kitchen.
Sheet vinyl's a possibility, though it's a VERY awkwardly shaped kitchen (21 feet long, with all kinds of odd little ells), and tile seemed simpler.
One of my concerns is whether the floating floors squeak a lot in use, and how hard it is to repair a damaged board in the middle of the floor. Do I have to take it all apart back to the nearest wall?
