my kitchen and dining room has glued down short nap carpeting about a 1/4 inch thick with kanga back. instead of tearing up carpet and then sanding the glue off then laying the 1/8 inch foam underlayment i’d like to just lay the enginererd 1/2 floating planks directly over the carpet. any ideas or comment? you can cll me lazy if you want!!!!!

I would think you would be floating a little too deep. The deflection with the thicker pad might be too much. It could tear up the joints. Don't know, just a thought.
*Hi Larry,Absolutely remove the old carpet or your new floating floor will not last a season and you will void your warranty.FLoating floors, require level and clean subfloors.Gabe
