For walls parallel to floor joists, aren’t there some schools of thought that say it isn’t just all that important to have joists under or immediately adjacent the wall plates?
Remember, we are talking about strictly nonbearing interior walls.
I have always put in extra joists, but I am looking through my new JLC book, “Field Guide to Residential Construction . . . A Manual of Best Practice,” and seeing on page 119, simple 2×4 blocking on about 32″ centers, under a wall like this.

I have always used the rule that if the wall was longer than one third of the joist span I would insert a Joist or two.

I haven't pondered that question, but am having some thoughts on a similar one.
Like you, I have always added an extra joist, and even blocking between them in many instances.
I and building my house with floor trusses. The same question is applicable for them, but do I need to install the blocking with joist hangers?
I gotta get that JLC Field Guid.
