Was in Cedar Rapids last week, doing flood recovery work. Our crew, among other things, was installing kitchen cabinets in this old house. A little problem with the floor being out of level. If you look closely you can see that there’s something in excess of an inch under one end of that 6′ level (which has been propped level). Worst case they were down about 2″ about where that ladder’s standing. More than a bundle of shims.

BTW, for all you wussies who like to complain about the new forum, I just did something pretty cool with it. I took the HTML link above (without the "link:" part) and pasted it into my reply, it took the link just like it should. I also went to the Choose File button, and instead of browsing to the file on my computer, I pasted the HTML address. Drupal pulled the picture directly from Flicker without me having to download it first. Pretty Cool!
From this wussie to you screw-boy
What exactly is the second S for in that editing tag you got up there?
Ever hear the sound of one hand clapping? That's the character of a sixth finger typing.
Come on now, lets not get into a war on words.
What is that second S for in WYSISYG?
Well if you must know it was me missing the W and hitting the S instead... + me not Spellchecking before posting... hence my new tagline.
Paul,
What do you mean "if
Paul,
What do you mean "if I must know"?
I'm not a mind reader.
You were so concise and detailed in your application of screws thread, that I mistakingly thought perhaps the second S was something to do with yet another interpretation of getting screwed.
Sorry for continuing to ask for clarification.
As a point of information. I don't think speel cheek would come up with that one. Imagine if you will, the fake voice on Caller ID.
We've got some mystical option on our landline. A voice tries to speak the name of the party calling (I guess reading sort of out of the phone book for that number)............
My wife and I think it's hilarious. Her mother-Rose Martin comes across as Sargent Marge.
Similar to the current (and older) McDonalds ad playing for Filet 'o Fish. To me it sounds alot like the fish is singing-give me that bananna fish.......give me that fish.
I guess you just have to be there.
cal, he'll never get it... of course that's just one dumb carpenter to another<G>
wtf's up with the huge box?
What You See Is Sorta-like-what You Get
Hey Dan.
You running a crew now?
Somehow I thought you were a pro-computer nerd + engineer.
Is pulling up the subfloor and trueing the joists out of the question?
This was strictly volunteer, and I wasn't running the cabinet crew. I spent most of the week prepping window openings for replacements, then a couple of days pre-painting baseboard (exciting!).
The house was under water about halfway up the first floor.
