Last week I had a guy come to refinish some hardwood floors on the first floor of my house .They were stained Provincial minwax . The guy refinished them about 5 yrs ago they are in the traffic areas . He had his guys sand them down and then stain them ,Heres the problem the new stain is about 100 shades lighter than the first time he did it . which really looks awful at the adjoining rooms, they don’t seem to take the stain the way they did the first time . when I told him about the color difference the got mad and started swearing at me and hung up the phone that was the last time I heard from him . ,and he wont return a call . I am wondering if he didnt sand them down enough to get all the varnish that penetrared into the wood .He really left us with a mess. Any ideas he didnt put any poly on yet.
