Got a 20 year-old double-wide in exellent conditon to do a remodel on, one room at a time.
Living/dining area is 21’X 28′. Windows at each end of the long dimension. Floors are MDF.
After finishing walls and ceiling, plan to put laminate or hardwood floor down.
Would it be a good idea to skin the existing floor with 1/4″ ply before installing the finished floor. A double wide is separated in the middle for transport, and I’m concerned that in a future re-level it could move enough to separate the planks along the seam. I figure if I place the first course of ply over the seam that wouldn’t be a problem. We want the planks running perpendicular to the windows.
Thanks in advance.

the floors are more likely HDF ( particle board)
and yes a 1/4" UL of luaun is a good idea.
I would not be inclined to put a nail down floor on..go with a floating floor...HDF even MDF sucks at nailed on flooring

the particle board is not a suitable nail base for hardwood, 1/4" won't give you enough either, but will clean up the surface for a laminate/engineered
for transport purposes, consider a border running at ea side of the parting seam, or use that as starting point, and install the flooring going in opposite directions to both exterior sides that will allow splitting the double wide in the future remember to split the 1/4" ply in the middle too
