How big are 100 year old 2x4's?
My place was built in 1926, and back then, a 2x4 was a real 2" by 3-5/8". Today, they're 1-1/2" x 3-1/2", which is a pain for remodeling. There are places where I could really use lumber the right size for the termite damage I'm replacing. BTW, my ceilings are nine foot, king studs are 104-1/8".
What are your prices and shipping costs to Los Angeles?

*John,One of my current projects is transforming a designated historic site (and until recently a residence) over to commercial use. The earliest framing dates from 1864, w/ an addition in the 1880's and another addition in 1938.I thought you may find it interesting that the 1938 stuff is 1-5/8 x 3-5/8. Everything else is full 2" x 4", unsurfaced w/ the mill marks and all.Geo.
*Jim, Steve Loken is a builder/inventor/writer in Missoula very into "green" building--he started the Center for Resourceful Building Technology in Missoula, and made a demo house entirely out of recycled materials; he lectures now all over the country. You might try giving him a call for more contacts. Another avenue is Superior Hardwoods in Missoula; they do a lot of brokering of recycled wood and house parts; head guy is "John". Another person i know who salvages large buildings (he did a huge sash mill not long ago) is Scott Edgerton of Timeless Timbers in Missoula. Seems like Lander would be in striking distance...Is your wood still in situ, or salvaged already?
