I’m subcontracting the construction of a new home 100%. Who would be responsible to brace the foundation walls prior to backfill?

Hi Daron,
Whoever you stipulated in your contract agreements.
Gabe
*daron...dont know why... but it usually falls into my lap.. being the framing subcontractor... usually charge about $300 to do it... and worry like a son of a gun... until i get the subfloor on... you know liability for wall falling in due to a stupid dirt contractor who backfills with mud!!!E
*If you dont know ask yourself, Should I be doing this?

Daron, Save yourself a lot of grief and worry...Pour the floor while it is easy to get at and then install the floor deck before you backfill.

Daron,
In nothern Illinois the county requires bracing and it falls
upon the concrete sub to provide it. Being motivated to avoid problems/$ he will definitley pour the basement floor first (he also decreases his manhours with this method),and will add 2 #4
rebar at top of wall. Installing the deck is excellent bracing if you can talk the framers into it. Without it bracing every 20 foot is adequate. The best thing you can do is be on site when it is backfilled. If the operator is exhibing any disregard, bring out the camcorder. It's your show. You cut the checks!
Good Luck, Rick
