Putting in a paver porch. I read the code check and it says that you need to have 6″ between the sill plate and the outside ground level or siding to ground level.
Does this apply to the distance between the siding and a poured pad or pavers
Thanks

Yes.
for code - ask your local enforcer.
For reasons - here is a start -
Splash back of rain water hitting and bouncing a deck or patio is one of the most common causes of rot in siding and wall framing, as is leaving snow and ice piled up there.
so the higher the better.
A gutter or roof design to send water dripping elsewhere can help too. I see a lot of patios at 4-6" where things work out fine when a gutter or larger overhang, and slope controls water.
Also - critters like Termites and carpenter ants find it easy to get in the house when it is lower to the ground. bring that top dressing around your lantings right up the the bottom of the siding and it is impossible to use enough chemical barrier to keep them out. bUt keep the wood 18" above ground and few find their way in.
