I recently had a concrete block foundation laid for an addition. In the interim the builder was hauled off to jail(unrelated). I am interviewing other builders and have been told the foundation is out of square and the 2×10 floor joists have been notched thus making them 2×8. It has been suggested that I remove the new foundation and floor joist and start over. This sounds a little like overkill to me. Is there not a less expensive way to use what is there? All suggestions will be appreciated.

1----How far out of square are you? measure criss-cross X send the numbers.
2.....Are you hooked to an existing structure (three sides) or four sided standing alone?
3....Where's the notches? tight against the block? or in the center of the run? What's the span?
Unless the guy was high and went way out of square you should be able to fix it...........although I remember once getting so angry at a block layer I took a sledge to his out-of-square wall....................it happens, but 9 out of 10 times you can adjust the deck to accomodate the F.... up.
There are fast carpenters who care..... there are slow carpenters who care more.....there are half fast carpenters who could care less.....
