I am interested in framing a curved ceiling like the one featured in the article “A Lakeside Family Lodge” taken from the annual issue on homes.
I was in the midst of framing up my master bedroom when I saw the annual issue on houses and thought it would be a fun and interesting detail to add. Does anybody have any thoughts on the best way to do this? I have to admit I am a bit skeptical after reading it is “surprisingly easy to do”. If anyone has any words of wisdom or info on where I can obtain reference material I would greatly appreciate it.

Pat,
Make your ribs out of 1 1/8 plywood to the curve of your choice. Cover with benderboard or several layers of 1/4" sheetrock. Tape, bed and texture. Enjoy.

*There was a great article in FHB a few years ago about a barrel vaulted ceiling, nicely detailed. Someone named Scott sent me an e-mail a while back asking about barrel vault and concave trusses and being the punctual, non-procrastinating person I am, I promptly forgot to reply. Now I can't find that issue and if someone can point us in the right direction, Scott, Pat and I will be grateful.Don't you just hate it when you can't find what you know is right under your nose?
