We will be framing a walk out basement wall for a sectional home. The home requires that it rest on 4 posts that are set back in from the framed wall 4 inches. So the wall will not be a load bearing wall. I know that on the interior walls that a nonload wall the headers can just be a 2×4 horizontal with vertical cripples. I imagine that this would be sufficient in this case also, but wonder if for any reason this would be against code since it is an exterior wall. I cant think of any other case where an exterior wall wouldn’t be load bearing? Anyway I don’t want to start out on the wrong foot with the building inspector (who is also the tax assessor, and we wont EVEN go there!) Thank you for advice.

load bearing is load bearing .. if it ain't it ain't...so it just becomes a partition.. look it up in your jurisdictions code...
