I’m looking to add another framing gun to the arsenal and am considering two choices. I use clipped head nails exclusively and have narrowed the choice to the Senco FP600 (or FP650) or the Hitachi NR83AA. Availability of local service pretty much limits me to these two.
I have a Hitachi coil roofer and I like the Hitachi framer for its lower price (about $45 less). Hitachi’s also have an excellent reputation for durability. But I own several other Senco’s and all have been admirable performers.
Anyone with first-hand experience that can compare the two feel free to enlighten me.
Also, I’d be interested in any comments comparing the two Senco models (FP600 vs. FP650) to each other. Is the extra $20 worth it for the more powerful gun?
Thanks,

Dick:
I have used the hitachi framer gun for a long time . Comparing it to Senco and Paslode, I have found two performace issues in favor of the Hitachi nailer. The first one is toenailing and the second is cold weathe operation. I also think the Hitachi guns in general use less air for firing .

The one thing you may want to consider, which will continue to be a factor over the years, is the cost of the nails. My experience with the Senco dealership (where I bought all my nails) taught me that the more I bought, the lower the price. You already have Senco nailers, therefore you would be increasing your nail purchase. This should put you in a lower price bracket on future purchases.
Whenever I needed service on my nailers, Senco offered service that was absolutely impossible to beat!
I have not had any experience with Hitachi.
*Lee, I'm interested in your comparisons because I'm a paslode user. I don't have many cold weather problems, assuming my lines aren't clogged with ice.Could you elaboarate?Blue
*FYI, The paslode CORDLESS doesn't hit as hard when cold. The Hitachi worked well for me even with a small compressor. I haven't used the Senco. I have heard good things about both. At my age I would go with the lightest of the two.

*I've heard the Impulse was balky in cold. I just resurrected a senco 325. After a few hits, the nose broke. I'll get it fixed, and will sell it for 50% of a new one, then buy another paslode.i might be willing to try a hitachi. They kinda remind me of a hilti I had. It sounded too tinny for my manly crew!Blue
*I think Paslode doesn't promise the cordless gun will work below freezing.
*Blue:That "old" 325 you resurected is a lot newer than my old Sencos. Want to trade for an antique one?
*I have a big old, slow motion senco tha shoots 3 1/2" nails. It uses a ton of air. Enough antiques!Blue
