i am planning to build a trellis out of treated yellow pine. the structure will be supported on one side by the house. Out from the house, I will have two – 6×6 posts which will be spaced 15′ apart. Running parallel with the house i will have 2 – 2×8’s (on each side of the post) to support 2×6’s running perpendicular to the house.
Will the 2 – 2×8’s (15′ run) support 2×6’s on top and maybe even 2×4’s on top of the 2×6’s? thanks for your help.

*How long are the 2x6 going to be? What is ther spacing? I don't see a problem.
*Sounds "OK" Charlie. I'd use 2-18'-2x8's with a double through bolt at each end. this leaves a 12 1/2" overhang from each post.We space from 16" to 24" on the 2x6's. We normally use 3x8 and 3x6 tk cedar when building these arbors. Be carefull what you plant on this thing.Wisteria can take the siding off your house if you don't keep on top of it.You did say this was fastened to your house. Good Luck, Bob
*that will do just fine charlie, except pay attention to the weight of whatever you let grow on it, and what about that connection to the house? Make sure it stands up. Span of the 2x6 's ? Don't have a chart in front of me but about twelve feet is all I'd go...
*You bet on the wisteria. And give some thought on tieing to the house. I think I would add some posts and let it stand by itself. Best of luck.
