I am sure the experienced tradesmen may all know this, but perhaps some new guys may not.
If you make a purchase with CERTAIN qualifying credit cards, the card company adds one year to the manufacturers warranty at no charge. It adds the previous year warranty term.(note, cars, boats, four wheelers are not covered)
AS an example, a product with a first year warranty on parts and labor, and a five year warranty on parts only, fails the second year. The manufacturer replaces the part at no charge, but charges $100 for the labor. Since the credit card backs up the previous year, they will pick up the labor cost.
I recently called my card company customer lines, and found that all of my particular cards (visa, mc,) were covered. I knew my AE had the coverage because they picked up the labor charge on a washing machine repair (the part was in original warranty) last year.
It is a very nice benefit that most of my friends had never realized they had. Hope this saves some of you a few bucks. Paul
