Hello all…I’ve heard that galvanized flashing is resistant to corrosion from Copper Nitrate found in most PT lumber. I’m looking for an alternative to alluminum, which I have seen corroded when in contact with PT. The application is for flashing behind a ledger board….I live in the northeast (NH). Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Joe, I am always on the lookout for PERMANANT solutions to most problems. I use a product called TCSS. (Terne coated stainless steel) Terne refers to tin. Like tin roofing. It is made by the Follinsbe corp. in W. Va. I usually buy a roll. But it costs as much as copper. So a roll 24"or 30" by 50' could be $200-300. If you only need a small amount and you will never need this type of metal again, then I suggest getting light ga. stainless at any sheetmetal shop. They could even bend it for you. It will still cost more than most metals but, it is permenant! Good Luck, Jim

Thanks for taking the time Jim. I'll check it out. I'll only need a 12 to 14" roll, I'm hoping it'll be less....I am frustrated by the fact the my local lumber yards aren't aware of the problem with alluminum flashing and thus not stocking an alternative. Thanks.
