Am designing a new barn and will be specifying Engineered Storage trusses for the roof, which is not anything new, however, this building will have a Gambrel style roof.
Does anyone have any experience with a Gambrel Storage Truss?? If so, any input/comments would be appreciated, specifically advantages/disadvantages, cost, etc.
This building will be 28’X50′, with a 10′ plate height, I’ll run a W8X steel beam down the center with (3) columns.
The stair will be on the 28′ rear wall, running parallel.

I've designed a lot of gambrel attic trusses in the roof truss business, and have had very few problems. Most problems seem to come from trying to max out the span of the bottom chord in order to get a large room. The use of the steel beam in the center of your span should take care of that.
Attic truss designs should be reviewed by an engineer. (Most trusses aren't) Ask your truss supplier for a drawing of the truss sealed by an engineer. They should be happy to provide it.
