Hello, I am puting together and 12×16 shed. I would love to use the gambrel roof for a little extra room. The walls are planed to be about 7′ IMy issuse is I need to keep the peak of my roof as close to 10′ as possible. Sorry if it’s a silly question, but can anyone help me with the demensions for the trusses? I realize it will likely go above 10′ just trying to keep it as close as I can. Thank you for and help.

Keeping HVAC systems within the conditioned enclosure can be tough without a basement; one option is to use plenum trusses for the roof, which offer a space for equipment and ductwork.

Why do you necessarily need trusses for this small of a shed?
The upper (lower) pitch of the gambrel will depend largely on the roofing material you use and the proportions you desire. If you're going to use asphalt shingles, then most manufacturerd recommend a pitch of 3/12 or greather. Why don't you lay out your roof to scale (you know the orientation of the gambrel; not us) on a piece of paper to see what you get? You can likley frame this up conventionally and stay within dimensional lumber span allowances.

I built a 24' x 40' gambrel barn last summer. This site was VERY helpful in designing the site-built roof truss we used. Check it out!
