Anyone have any idea whether 1/8″ thick vinyl tile will hold up to the use (abuse?) a garage floor would subject it to? Looking for an alternative to paint/epoxy, but want durability. Home Depot has these tiles for 59 cents each, so they certainly seem cheap enough, and it seems they last forever. Any thoughts??

Concrete works pretty good as a garage floor,it even works as a driveway surface also.
Good Luck,Stephen
*Buy one tile and put it under the catalytic converter after having driven the car awhile and see if anything happens to it.

I'd look at some auto dealerships and see what works for them. I've used vinyl composition tile on floors that havfe cars parked on them and I've also used ceramic tile and carpet. None of the floors had to endure a lot of twisting/turning motion by the tires though. I'd make sure the floor is very clean and well prepped, and that you don't use the cheap adhesive.
Let me know how it turns out.
*I don't know about the catalytic converter, but hot rubber tires under load can ruin vinyl or composition tile in a heartbeat.I spent the $200 (for 2ea. two gallon kits)and used a 100% solids epoxy paint with sand added at mixing for anti-skid properties. I think it was from the 5400 series of Rust-Oleum line. It's available in a variety of colors, I used sand biege. The preparation of the floor is the most time consuming part of the project. Be sure to completely wash down, acid etch, and wash down again or you will compromise the adhesion. The use of a power mixer (the cheap 3/16" dia. bent wire version chucked into your drill) will make mixing much easier. Use care to measure and mix only the amount you intend to put down at that time. I did 2 coats on each side, completing one side while my stuff occupied the other. My floor (2 car, approx. 20x22') has been in use for about two years now with NO signs of wear. I use a floor squeegee to push the water out (from winter ice/snow melting off vehicles or from the once every spring clean out) as my garage doesn't have a drain. My garage floor gets some heavy use: Chevy Suburban, Pontiac Bonneville, 3-ton floor jack, two boys, and a third on the way. I would do this again (and probably will for my father-in-law) and think that it's worth the time. Why are you set against epoxy?

I'm thinking about ceramic tiling my barn floor. Anyone got any creative ideas.
Almost got around to running the power, but I got sidetracked by the holiday.
I did manage to get the barn addition up and as soon as I finish the doors, I'll spray it.
