Since my 17 year old Heil furnace has developed cracks in the heat exchange, I will need to replace the furnace.
I have received a few estimates from 3 dealers. The first is a Lennox/Janitrol dealer. The second is a Carrier dealer that describe Lennox as garbage. The third is a Trane/American Standard dealer. All furnaces are in the 80,000 to 100,000 BTU range with 80% AFUE. Due to the duct work in my house, I have decided against a two-stage furnace (I have a 70-80 year old Chicago style bungalow). I had a Lennox AC system installed by the first vendor earlier this year and have had no problems with it.
Any suggestions or thoughts about the reliability of one furnace brand over another? From what I have read on other sites, I have already decided against the Janitrol unit.
