I`m planning an addition on my own home this coming Sept. I`ve recently noticed ads in the trade mags for GPs new 7/8″ plywood. I haven`t yet looked into its availability in my area, but I`m looking for feedback from any of you who might have worked with it?
Any info much apreciated!

I wouldn't fool with plywood anymore. I used to be an anti-OSB man, but I am building a 1000 sf garage, with full bedroom and bath above and adding 250 sf to the living room, nary a piece of plywood on the job. All subfloor decking is being done with Advantech 23/32" flooring, and the roof and walls are being sheathed with 7/16" OSB (everything is 16" oc, otherwise I would use 5/8" on the roof.)
Adavntech is manufactured by Huber (huberwood.com) and has a 50 year warranty against any kind of damage from moisture. There was one claim around here a few months ago and they (Huber) came and inspected and paid for new Advantech and labor.
Not affiliated, just my thoughts.
Thanks for the input! I`m not familiar with the Advantech flooring....haven`t seen it anywhere around my neck of the woods. Perhaps I`ll look into that as well.
All I`ve ever used is plywood and I`ve never had a single problem. Where are you located? Perhaps it has something to do with your negative experiences with plywood.
Again, Thanks!J. D. Reynolds

I subbed work from a builder in TN that swore Advantech was the next best thing to sliced bread; it would'nt swell up or delaminate due to moisture, he had the whole sales pitch down pat. I really think he belived it, until the floors in two of his spec houses had to be sanded down to smooth the edges of the Advantech that had swelled so badly you could actually stub your toe walking through the rooms. He was not able to get any adjustment for his time or trouble.
I continue to spec 3/4" ply for subfloors, 1/2" ply for wall sheathing and 5/8" ply for roof sheathing. (even when the rafters or trusses are on 16" centers)
