I’m located in Raleigh, nc, and have my own home improvement business that I started a couple of years ago. I’m covering a broad spectrum of work, flooring, cabinetry, trim, painting, door & window installation, rotten wood repair, roofing, and so on.
For now, it’s mostly just myself working, but more and more with part time help from a few friends and family members. I’m going into my third year, and the demand for my services is starting to exceed my capacity.
I have started to ponder if it would be to my advantage to get a general contractors license and enter the realm of subbing some stuff out.
I down loaded an overview of the testing material, and it looked like a bunch of questions about everything imaginable, including overhead power line installation, railway construction, marine construction, underground tunneling, on and on…looked like overkill for a guy just wanting to make houses better.
How difficult of a test is this, and what would be the recommended studying material for it.
thanks,
st

I'm in Chapel Hill. I'm taking a Durham Tech course for an unlimited residential license. Lot of stuff to read, but I need to know it all.
I've got an address somewhere for a weekend class, that, for $550, guarantees you'll pass.
Getting you GC will be the best thing you ever did bro. It'll open doors for you.
