Hi, I’m from Cooks Talk, and I’ve been busy painting my granddaughters’ bedroom. It’s a bright royal blue, and I’ve managed to get latex paint onto my youngest GD’s karate jacket and, of course, on the clothes I was wearing. I tried using water before it dried, but it didn’t budge it. How can I take it out? Any ideas?

they make a Latex paint remover. HD & lowes have it.
Goof Off works to take latex off, though not sure how good it might be on clothes. You'd have to read the label on that.

Water is the first thing to try and you've done that. Next try alcohol which will soften most water base paints. Xylol (the active ingredient in goof off) will dissolve most latex and acrylic paints ... but you have to be careful what you use it on. Laquer thinner will also soften most paint coatings (oil or water base) ... but again watch where you use it.
Only alcohol . It will dissolve it . Brush with a tooth brush. Next time use drops and some old clothes. Welcome to Breaktime.

Do you think she might make us some cookies if your idea works?
Be cool , huh?

You've got it! Cookies for everyone, if this works! I went to HD, was going to buy some goof off, and the man in the paint area suggested I try nail polish remover with acetone. Didn't even touch it...so I shall get some alcohol and try that. I did use a drop cloth and wear old clothes, but still hate to toss them, and I really feel bad about my GD's karate jacket...I evidently had paint on my fingers when I picked it up. Grrrr. Thanks for all the help, guys.Things are going to get a lot worse before they get worse.Lily Tomlin
No cookies this time, guys. I tried alcohol. Also tried the nail polish remover with acetone. NOTHING budged the latex paint on fabric. I suppose I could try the goof-off from Home Depot, but I'm doubting it will work, either. One thing the alcohol did, though...it worked great just to get little smudges of paint off areas it didn't belong, like the baseboards (I'm a sloppy painter, okay?). Anyway, I do appreciate your help.Things are going to get a lot worse before they get worse.Lily Tomlin
Try ammonia also. It's possible that the paint has dyed the material, in which case all fabric bleach may work somewhat.
