Underwriters Labs is warning consumers that Zhejiang, China-based General Protecht Ground Fault Interrupters carry unauthorized UL marks..according to UL, the products have not been evaluated for safety by UL and are not eligible to carry the UL mark….
the unauthorized label has the following info:
UL Listed; Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter; Issue No. B-386,781;E231858
stop using the GFI immediately and return it to the place you purchased it

It shows pictures of package and product and other markings on the GFCI.
And this is not a new problem.
In trying to find details I did a google and found a 99 report of counterfiet GFCI's sold through electrical distributors. One truck load had 100,000 units.
And a report customs showing that from 97 to 2001 4 million items with counerfiet UL labels where caught.
