Hey all. I thought I saw an article on installing glass in existing cabinet doors a while ago? Anyone remember this issue of FHB or FW? Maybe I’m crazy. Any tips on this subject, looking to routing out the middle on three existing cabinet doors and installing glass and muttons. Also, best companies to order cabinet doors from? Scherr’s? Thanks!

I have not seen the article, but it would not be difficult to do. If they are raised panel doors, carefully cut out the old panel, then use a rabetting router bit from the back side to remove half the lip from the opening, and buy glass to fit. make up some trim strips to hold the bglass in place.

Thanks Eddie, I should have been more specific. The glass installation is not my problem, at least not yet! I thought the article showed how to install muttons and the appropriate way to fit them.
I've read good things about Scherr's but I like http://www.walzcraft.com

been there done that many times in both 5 piece wood doors and vinyl wrapped mdf
wood doors are easy, cut out the panel roughly with a saw then care fully remove the back of the panel groove creating rabbet for the glass. a router withedge guides of some kind is the best way
mdf doors are done in a similar way, a template guided router works well here, edge treatment is tricky of course, edge tape, paint whatever will work
