Dishwasher silcon caulked to my granite countertop has shockingly come loose.
Plan A–Glue wood strip to bottom of granite and secure dishwasher with screws. Polyurethane glue?
Plan B–Drill holes for plastic anchors and secure with screws. Granite installer feared doing this. Should I be fearless?
Plan C–Listen to wife bitch about dishwasher rocking forward each time we fill it.
Visit from the “Bright-Idea Department” wanted.
Thanks

i've faced the same problem myself a few time
sort of solved it by gluing a wood strip(1/2 inch ply) with 5 minute epoxy
unfortunately this prevents the Dwasher from being raised up snug to the top
caulking is not a piece of trim
screw thru side of dish washer into cabinets ajacent
james
and use lots of caulking to prevent leaks!!caulking is not a piece of trim
no caulk steve... just be smart enough to run your screws in the area on the dry side of the seal.... most dw's set the door into the frame a little and if you put your screws in on the correct ( dry ) side of the seal then bobs your uncle...

I think fisher pikel ( sp ) uses this method instead of the cheezie top sheetmetal bendie things.
I guess in my first post i should have mentioned screwing into the face frames of the side cabs, thru the dry side of the dishwasher seal.
my bad
hope no one went running scews thru the wet side of the seal on my account, and if you did all i have to say is DUH!!!

I never answered 'cause you already did the right one. Most DWs I have seen have the holes already puinched in the side trim flange for this sort of mount. For those that don't ,maybe, I would use the poly glue to add wood to the granite rather than drilling the granite

i'd go with plan c, keeps her focused on that problem without dreaming up something else! larry
hand me the chainsaw, i need to trim the casing just a hair.
plan "C" won't work without creating more problems. Bitching begats bitching as they say.

Many DW manufacturers offer special brackets , attached to the side of the DW, that allow you to screw solidly into the side cabinets. There are specifically for garanite & stone counters. Good Luck.
PS GE's are about 20 bucks
