Hey there, I am installing glulams about 16-18′ long over 4×6 posts on 3-5′ centers. The glulams have a built in crown as I’m sure you’re all aware. The problem is that before they’re loaded, they stand off the posts in the middle of the span. To attach post to beam with hardware at this point would be to prevent the beam from settling onto the posts.
Any great ideas?

The mid-span posts aren't structural are they? If they're not, why not install the posts later, after all the loading.
To clarify, i've got a 18' glulam resting on four structural posts, but they only actually contact the two outer posts, leaving a slight (1/8" +/-) gap above the two middle posts. And I didn't realize that non crowned glulams were available. Thanks for the tip.
around here you can get lams crowned or not....you need the not...
