Matt, I hope this is the right folder!
This must be a common problem: You can’t afford and/or don’t need an
architect. You can’t find stock plans that really combine design with type of
construction you want.
So, in our case we’re working up a scale model, using foamcore. And have
decided, based on a fair amount of research, that we want ICF walls, crawl
space, SIP roof, etc.
Once we get things the way we want–and this will be a straight-forward,
retangular, 2-story, 1600-1700sf house–how do we get this translated into
working plans? Do we still need the services of an architect? Or, if we have a
good builder, and can make scale drawings of all plan/elevation views, is that
enough? Or what?
