Good “Energy Contractor” Columbus, Ohio
Hello – I’m not sure if this is acceptable or not, sorry if it isn’t and moderators please feel free to remove.
I’m looking for some help in making my house more energy effecient, especially heating during these dreary Central Ohio winters. Does anyone know a good source to find knowledgable folks to help me with this? I’m not made of money but do value knowledge and doing things “right” vs cheap and having them done many times, etc.
Anyway, I’ve been lurking on the site for years, trying to learn all the time and I think I need some real world experience to help determine what should be done vs what can be done, etc.
Thanks for any suggestions. 🙂

Call National Comfort Institute for recommendations, Their 800 # is at their website.
You can also go to Energy Star website for tips on doing things yourself.
On the other sid eof that coin you can call a HERS specialist. you should be able to find links to that on the same web site.
I picked-up the Bruce Harley book and a foam gun and foam from EFI. I do plan to try and seal my attic floor, etc as a DYI project. Interested in seeing what else I can do why my place to get biggest bang for the buck in terms of maximizing heating efforts. Thanks, I'll take a look and check out what's what. Thought I'd start to see if there was a good local tradesman in BT that'd be interested. Appreciate the help.

May need a break after holidays, Bill, but you'd have to fly me out. (LOL)

Yeah, that's a bit of trip from your town! :)
Bill:
Go to these websites: http://oee.nrcan.gc.ca/residential/personal/index.cfm?attr=0
http://www.gov.ns.ca/energy/AbsPage.aspx?id=1400&siteid=1&lang=1 This is my old haunt; co-authored some of the downloadables from the dept.
Look for an online book called Keeping the Heat In at the first and others on air leakage control, moisture control. These may inform you enough to move on your own. Airsealing a home is something anyone can do!
Good Luck!

Dear Bill:
No tickets yet! Guess it's just not cold enough in your town or you haven't got the first gas bill.
Awaiting your tickets (or rather my) tickets.
Sincerely
