Good quailty sweat angle stops? Help!
well my plumber did it again- left 1/2″ copper stubs when I wanted 1/2″ IPS for the sink and toilet feeds. Says he can get good quality sweat stops that don’t look like they belong in a condo. (Customer already told me she wants cross handle stops). Anyone has a web site I can look at for these? I don’t want to cut floor and wall open to solder threaded adaptors if I can avoid it!

Why not use compression stops?
I don't know- never liked the idea of another joint to leak. Especially the straight stop for the toilet when the mop hits it for the 100th time and it leaks into the livingroom.
Straight stops are more vulnerable to damage from mops and such than angle stops, plus the water has a direct route into the floor. Angle stops let you see the leak sooner, since it drips onto the floor.Maybe tell the janitor to lighten up on the mop? Done properly, compression stops are pretty durable.Bill
If I had to put a number on it, I have installed atleast 3000 angle stops probably more.
except for 3 highrise low end apartment buildings ( which were a sharkbite style stops) the vast majority have been compression stops.
The main problems I have seen was do to incorrect or lazy install practices.
The only cross handle I know of is the Kohler IPS ones they come in 3/8" & 1/2" IPS.
They are really nice, I have them on my toilets cause they are exposed.
All the other stops in my house are Brasscraft compression.
If you are dead set on cross handles you could sweat a 1/2" sweta by 3/8" IPS adapter & slip a chrome sleeve over the pipe to the wall---- time consumimg, but I have done it.
