Hello Everyone,
New here and looking to find some good replacement windows for my place in Orange County, SoCal. I have read some articles saying to stay away from Lowes and Andersen windows. i have researched a few places that do windows (Dial-one windows, WinDor, etc.). Does anyone know of good windows (jeldwen?) and a reputable compnay to install them in Southern California?
I see lots of choices in the phonebook and bbb, but i do not want to end up with bad windows and empty pockets.
Any assistance is much appreciated.

I installed 11 windows and a set of exterior french patio doors by Gorrell. They're all vinyl with armor glass. I'm very pleased with their windows, but the patio doors expand and contract aggressively, which changes the alignment of the door strike and causes occasional problems with latching when I casually close the door.

Thanks for the info, but I am unable to install them myself (crippled as a result of car accident).Would you know of someone that would install good quality windows (Home Depot & Jeldwen?)? Thanks for the help.

Fraid not. I'm a DIY'er and live on the opposite side of the country (SC) from you, so I don't know of anyone to recommend in your area. If I were looking for an installer, I'd personally avoid the big box stores. Most employees there don't stick around long enough to get to know which contractors are reputable and which aren't. I'd probably be skeptical of window installers with ads in the newspaper as well. Your best bet is probably a "word-of-mouth" reference from someone with personal experience.
Good luck.New knowledge is priceless.
