We are thinking about putting a fence around our front yard, which is right on the way to a local school. Our neighbor’s fence has gotten tagged at least once. Theirs is a white fence, so they simply repainted the graffiti’d part. However, we were hoping to have an unpainted wood fence (probably cedar). Is there any way to finish wood so it will repel paint? Are there any clear silicone-based finishes or topcoats that could be used. Does anyone have any other ideas, or should I just go with a painted fence in order to prevent excessive graffiti removing troubles? I don’t forsee this being a persistent problem, but even once is an unnecessary PITA.

Consider installing a metal fence with pickets 8-10 inches apart. Hard to tag that kind of fence.
Let's see!!!!!!
1/4 inch cable running the length of the fence, Put a trolly pully on the cable and attach the biggest GD dog to it.
Yeah that otta do it!!!!!!
Consider hedges.
Buy a cow. Then wire the thing with high voltage. . . to keep the critter in.
Real trucks dont have sparkplugs
I appreciate all the creativity here - really, I do. I know there are a lot of alternatives to wood fences, and a lot of outlandinsh security measures I could take. But I don't foresee graffiti being a major issue. It's just something I wanted to plan for a little. So are there any clear finishes out there that would make paint removal easier in the event that the fence happened to get a little paint on it?
What about trying to find a clear finish that you could apply with a garden sprayer?
Something very oily, almost waxy even. Experiment with a liquid wax dissolved in linseed oil. Then lay it on a couple of times a year until a layer builds up?
If it gets tagged, power wash it off and reapply the wax.
Just thinking out loud, good luck with it...Buic

Probably not. Maybe you should just use a dark stain that could be re-applied to cover any graffiti.
I was once asked to paint the exterior of a building with graffiti-resistant paint because some yutes (that's "youths", but I just love that scene from My Cousin Vinny) had left tributes to their favorite musicians. I looked into it and it's a very (like 5 times the cost of paint) expensive product, requires special application and proprietary cleaners.
I just used exterior paint. I could re-paint over any new graffiti every year for the next 20 years and it would still be cheaper than the graffiti-resistant paint.
BTW, that 3 years ago and it hasn't been tagged since.
